John O'Leary

Principal Data Infrastructure Engineer at Workhuman

John O'Leary has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. John began their career as a Private Soldier in the Irish Defence Forces from May 2005 to October 2007.

In 2008, they worked as a Claims Analyst at Assurant Solutions.

From 2011 to 2012, they served as an Operations Control Consultant at Version 1, where they monitored customers' systems and automated checks on Windows and Linux machines.

John then transitioned to the role of an Oracle/SQL Server DBA at Version 1 from September 2012 to March 2015. In this role, they supported databases for various sectors and provided DBA services for a major Irish utility provider.

Next, O'Leary joined McCann FitzGerald as an Infrastructure DBA from March 2015 to June 2016. John was responsible for supporting and maintaining all databases within the company, as well as managing upgrade and migration projects.

Starting in June 2016, they became a Database Administrator at Version 1, where they played the role of a senior DBA with extensive client-facing experience. John provided database consultancy services, supported mission-critical databases, and gained customer-facing experience through day-to-day support and project-related activities. John'stenure at this company ended in March 2019.

Currently, O'Leary is employed at Workhuman as a Principal Data Infrastructure Engineer, a position they have held since May 2021.

John O'Leary completed their BSc (Hons) in Computing from Technological University Dublin in 2010-2011. Prior to that, they obtained a BSc in Computing from Munster Technological University from 2007 to 2010. In terms of certifications, they received the following credentials: Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate: SQL Server 2012 from Microsoft in January 2015, Oracle Linux Certified Implementation Specialist from Oracle in April 2013, Oracle Database 11g Administrator Certified Associate from Oracle in April 2012, and ITIL V3 Foundation from BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT in October 2011.
