Elyse Ashburn is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in the education sector. As Co-Founder and Editor of Work Shift since June 2021, Elyse focuses on the intersection of education, training, and societal needs. Concurrently, Elyse serves as a Writer, Researcher, and Analyst for Higher Education, concentrating on the evolution of postsecondary education and its impact on economic mobility. Previously, Elyse held roles as Strategic Advisor at Whiteboard Advisors from 2018 to 2023, Chief of Staff and Director of Communications at the University of Maryland Baltimore County from 2011 to 2018, and Senior Editor and Reporter at The Chronicle of Higher Education from 2006 to 2011. Elyse began the journalism career as a Reporter at News & Record from 2004 to 2006. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Master's in Public Policy from the University of Maryland Baltimore County.
