Theresa Kushner is a self-styled data-vangelist who possesses two passions — deriving value from data and advancing women in business. Having held positions in F100 companies for most of her career, she now consults businesses on how to use data, analytics, and AI at scale to transform business models. She applies to these businesses the skills she learned as the Senior Vice President at Performance reporting, analytics, and customer master data. She couples this knowledge with lessons learned while the Vice President of the Information Innovation Center at VMware in Palo, Alto. There she was responsible for data governance, data management, business intelligence and advanced analytics. At VMware, she also helped to establish a women’s group aimed at hiring, promoting, and engaging women throughout the organization. The analytics teams that she has managed over the years have garnered awards for their excellence from various data institutions such as TDWI and received 2 patents with another 5 in consideration.
In 2008, Ms. Kushner co-authored “Managing Your Business Data from Chaos to Confidence” with Maria Villar. Ms. Villar and Ms. Kushner joined forces at IBM when both were engaged in developing a data warehouse for marketing. Ms. Kushner wrote her second book with co-author, Ruth P Stevens. The book entitled “B2B Data-Driven Marketing: Sources, Uses, Results” was published in June 2015.
Ms. Kushner is a graduate of the University of North Texas (UNT) where she received a Master of Arts in Journalism. She also presently serves on the Board of Advisors of Mayborn School of Journalism at UNT, on the advisory board of data.world, and as a member of the advisory board of TY-Education in San Jose, California, an organization dedicated to educating women returning to the workforce.
