Sergey Stavisky currently serves as an Assistant Professor at the University of California, Davis, since October 2021, leading research in the UC Davis Neuroprosthetics Lab to develop brain-computer interfaces aimed at restoring function for individuals with neurological impairments. Prior to this, Sergey was a Postdoctoral Fellow at Stanford University from September 2010 to September 2021, focusing on motor cortical signals in individuals with tetraplegia to control robotic arms and investigate the neural underpinnings of speech production. Sergey earned a Ph.D. in Neurosciences from Stanford University School of Medicine in 2016, following work as a Ph.D. Candidate in the Neural Prosthetic Systems Laboratory under the guidance of Dr. Krishna V. Additionally, Sergey contributed to the BrainGate2 Neural Interface System Project as a Research Assistant/System Developer from July 2008 to July 2010 and gained early research experience as an undergraduate at the Sheinberg Lab, Brown University, from 2007 to 2008. Sergey holds a ScB in Neuroscience with a focus on computational and systems neuroscience from Brown University, obtained in 2008.
