Position Overview:

As a Structural Engineer, you will take on key responsibilities in the design, analysis, and management of structural engineering projects. You will design structures such as buildings or bridges, using your expertise to ensure the structural integrity of the projects. You will work closely with a team to create structural models, prepare budgets, and supervise the construction process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design Structures: Design and develop structural systems for buildings, bridges, and other infrastructure projects, ensuring structural integrity and safety.
  • Create Structural Models: Use computer-aided design (CAD) software, such as AutoCAD or Revit, to create structural models and drawings.
  • Load & Pressure Calculations: Measure loads and pressures caused by environmental factors, such as wind, snow, and seismic activity, as well as human influences like traffic or occupancy.
  • Material Selection: Choose appropriate materials for construction based on project specifications, including strength, durability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Construction Safety: Follow strict construction safety guidelines and industry standards to ensure that all designs are compliant with safety regulations.
  • On-Site Supervision: Monitor on-site construction processes, ensuring that the designs are implemented correctly. Supervise construction workers and collaborate with contractors to ensure quality and adherence to timelines.
  • Budgeting and Project Management: Prepare and allocate budgets for projects, track expenses, and report on progress to ensure projects remain within scope and budget.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with contractors, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure the successful execution of projects.
  • Quality Assurance: Perform regular inspections and field observations, ensuring that construction processes meet the required quality standards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s degree is a plus).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Florida is required.
  • 5-10 years of relevant structural engineering experience.
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and other structural design software.
  • Expertise in construction methods and local building codes and regulations.
  • Experience designing buildings and/or bridges and working with a variety of construction materials.
  • Data-driven mindset with excellent mathematical skills for structural calculations.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to solve complex engineering problems.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Member of the Institute of Structural Engineering (preferred).
  • Experience working with Department of Transportation (DOT) projects is a plus.
