Ben Burnett, Ph.D., serves as President at William Carey University since June 2014, having previously held the roles of Executive Vice President and Dean of Education at the same institution. Burnett was the Executive Director of Preps, Inc., an education non-profit, from June 2017 to August 2020. Prior experience includes serving as Superintendent of the Lamar County School District from January 2008 to June 2014 and as Middle School Principal at Oak Grove Middle School from July 1997 to December 2007. Earlier roles included High School Band Director at Oak Grove High School and Assistant Band Director at Meridian High School. Burnett earned a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Administration, as well as a Master's degree and Bachelor's degree in Music Teacher Education, all from The University of Southern Mississippi.
