Sophie Peel is an experienced investigative reporter currently working as a Staff Reporter for Willamette Week since February 2019, focusing on politics, housing, and homelessness. Prior to this role, Sophie has worked as a Freelance Reporter writing about politics, human interest stories, cannabis, and culture, along with serving as a Staff Writer covering politics, transportation, cannabis, and education. Sophie gained valuable experience as a Couric Fellow at Georgia Public Broadcasting from April to September 2018, creating independent audio pieces centered on community stories in Macon, GA. Additionally, Sophie co-directed the Juniors Tournament at the Seaside Beach Volleyball Tournament, overseeing tournament organization and communication with participants and officials. Sophie obtained a degree from Mercer University between 2014 and 2018.
