Soraya Peke-Mason was appointed to the Whanganui DHB in December 2019. She comes with experience in private enterprise, iwi, community, and land development and has sound governance experience.
She spent many years working in Australia in the construction, tourism, and hospitality sectors with a short stint in health before returning home to Whanganui in 2000. Since then she has been immersed in local and central government politics, iwi and MÄori land development, and is the director of her company, Land Trust Management Services Ltd. From 2007-2019 she was a member of the Rangitikei District Council.
Based in Ohakune, she's chair of the post-settlement governance entity, Te Totarahoe o Paerangi ā Ngati Rangi, and has been appointed to Whanganui Community Foundation. She also sits on marae and land trusts.
