Matthew Haigh has extensive work experience in the fields of AI, machine learning, data analysis, and innovation. Matthew currently serves as the Head of AI and Machine Learning at Westpac New Zealand, where they lead the implementation of AI and ML technologies to enhance banking services and drive digital transformation. Matthew also oversees a skilled data team and focuses on developing AI and ML strategies aligned with the bank's goals. Prior to this role, Matthew was the Head of Data Experience at Westpac New Zealand, where they led a data team in exploring novel technologies and building amazing customer experiences using ML and AI techniques.
Before joining Westpac New Zealand, Matthew held several positions at Deloitte. Matthew worked as the Head of Innovation in both Deloitte Canada and Deloitte New Zealand, where they were responsible for leading and managing innovation teams and achieving the firm's innovation objectives. Additionally, Matthew served as a Consultant at Deloitte New Zealand, specializing in the design of corporate information systems and supporting business change.

Matthew Haigh holds a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree in Business Administration and Management, General from The University of Auckland, which they obtained from 2007 to 2009. Prior to that, they completed a Master of Science and Diploma of Imperial College in Computing for Industry from the University of London between 2001 and 2003. Their education began with a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from Durham University, which they achieved from 1996 to 2000. In addition to their academic qualifications, Matthew Haigh has also obtained certifications such as the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in November 2021, Cloud Computing for Business Professionals from The University of Auckland, and the Design Thinker (Facilitator) certification from ExperiencePoint in October 2017.
