Sonja Neely-Johnson has extensive experience in educational leadership, primarily within the West Contra Costa Unified School District. From June 2018 to the present, Sonja served in various roles, including Interim Chief Academic Officer, Associate Superintendent, and SELPA Director, where responsibilities included managing special education programs for students from pre-kindergarten to transition/adult services. Previously, Sonja held the position of Director of Special Education for Secondary from July 2010 to May 2016 and also managed K-12 Educational Services, focusing on curriculum and instruction across various content areas. Sonja's earlier roles include serving as Coordinator of Educational Services and Principal at Wilson Elementary School and Cole Elementary School. An academic background includes a Master of Arts in Education from Mills College and a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of California, Davis.
