Marcus Walton is an experienced communications professional with a background in education and community engagement. Currently serving as a Board Member and Treasurer for the West Contra Costa Public Education Fund since February 2022, Walton also holds the position of Director of Communications and Special Projects at the Contra Costa County Office of Education since September 2020. Previous roles include Communications Director for the West Contra Costa Unified School District, Chief Communications Officer for Capistrano Unified School District, and Senior Communications Manager for the Oakland Housing Authority. Walton's career began in journalism, with positions such as Managing Editor at The Sacramento Observer and Staff Writer at the San Jose Mercury News. Walton holds a BA in Journalism from California State University-Sacramento, complemented by additional education at San Jose State University, Contra Costa College, and Pinole Valley High School.
