Aslan Bakirov is a Principal ML/Data Scientist at Wellcome Sanger Institute, collaborating with Prof. Mo Lotfollahi on foundational models and perturbation modeling in single-cell biology since October 2024. Previously, Aslan served as Director of Machine Learning and Staff Software Engineer at causaLens, focusing on causal discovery and ML infrastructure from June 2023 to October 2024. Aslan's experience at Facebook from January 2019 to June 2023 as a Production Engineer involved developing machine learning systems and platform solutions. Other notable positions include Senior Backend Engineer at Fraugster, Software Engineer at Dell EMC, and various roles at Crate.IO, Mesosphere, İstanbul Şehir University, Intellica, and freelancing projects. Aslan holds a Master of Science in Computer Engineering from İstanbul Şehir University and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from Boğaziçi University.
