Kate Verrant serves as the Assistant General Counsel for Labor & Employment at Chicago Public Media since August 2023. Prior experience includes tenure as Counsel & Court Disability Coordinator at the Cook County Office of the Chief Judge from May 2015 to August 2023, where representation in labor and employment matters for approximately 2,400 staff was a key responsibility. Other notable roles comprise a Public Interest Law Initiative Fellow at the Lawyers' Committee for Better Housing and an intern at the United States Attorney's Office. Kate Verrant has also contributed to environmental law through roles at the US EPA and Center for Neighborhood Technology, and has experience in criminal law advocacy. Academic qualifications include a Juris Doctor from DePaul University College of Law, a Master's in Environmental Policy from Bard College, and a Bachelor's in Environmental Studies from the University of Kentucky.
