Smitha Shyam currently serves as the Senior Director of Engineering at Waymo since January 2023. Prior to this role, Smitha was the Head of Uber AI and Director of Engineering at Uber from October 2016 to January 2023, leading company-wide AI initiatives that generated significant business impact. Smitha's earlier experience includes positions as Staff Engineer and Tech Lead Manager at Google, Senior Software Engineer at AMD, Software Engineer at Nusym Technology, and Software Engineer at Analog Devices. Smitha holds a Master of Science in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Engineering from the National Institute of Technology Karnataka.
