Lissa Henschen serves as the National Director of Community Openings at Watermark Retirement Communities since May 2021, bringing extensive experience from a prior role as Sr. Director of Community Openings at Sunrise Senior Living from March 1997 to April 2021. During tenure at Sunrise, Lissa successfully oversaw the opening of over 20 new communities, developed a standardized process for tracking pre-opening activities, and provided leadership during the critical phases of community launch. Previous roles at Sunrise included Director of Operations, where oversight involved 12 communities with substantial financial management, and Area Sales Manager, focusing on exceeding occupancy and sales targets. Lissa's strong educational background includes a BS with double majors in Psychology and Sociology from Towson University and earlier studies at the University of Maryland in Augsburg, Germany.
