Jeewan Chanicka has a diverse and extensive work experience. jeewan is currently the Director of Education at the Waterloo Region District School Board, a position they started in September 2021. Jeewan Chanicka obtained a Bachelor of Arts with honors (magna cum laude) in Negotiations & Bargaining: Culturally Appropriate forms of Mediation from York University from 1995 to 2000. Subsequently, they completed their Bachelor of Education in Junior/Intermediate History at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education of the University of Toronto from 2002 to 2003. jeewan then pursued a Master of Education in Risk & Resiliency; Educational Leadership; Equity Issues; Curriculum Development from York University from 2005 to 2007. Additionally, Jeewan Chanicka has a certification in Workplace Diversity and Human Rights from the Ontario Human Rights Commission.
