Stanislav Edward Shmelev is an ecological economist based in Oxford, serving as MSc Thesis Assessor at the University of Cambridge since September 2024. Shmelev has been appointed Panel Convener for the UN-Habitat initiative "Paving the Way to Urban Sustainability" for the upcoming UN World Urban Forum 2024 in Cairo. As Executive Director of the Environment Europe Foundation since October 2019, Shmelev leads sustainability research and advisory efforts for governments and businesses. Additional roles include Senior Consultant for UNDP, Visiting Professor at Università degli Studi di Torino, and keynote speaker with prestigious organizations such as the Washington Speakers Bureau and London Speaker Bureau. Shmelev's educational background includes a PhD in Ecological Economics and several Global Executive MBAs from leading institutions. Recognized as one of the most promising young economists globally by Handelsblatt, Shmelev's expertise spans sustainable development, green economy, environmental policy, and circular economy.
