Y. Gary Newman has a diverse and impressive work experience spanning various industries and roles. Y. Gary started their career as a Manager at Register.com in 2002. Y. Gary then worked as a Consultant at ABN Amro Futures, where they developed client portfolio optimization algorithms. Y. Gary delivered significant reductions in market risk and helped the bank see rapid client base growth.
In 2006, Newman became the CEO of Bridge Base Online, Inc. Y. Gary transformed the online card-playing service, improving EBITDA by 40% within just 9 months. Y. Gary also streamlined and automated various business processes, positioning the company for acquisition.
From 2007 to 2008, Newman served as the COO of Medped Media, where they oversaw finance and operations. Y. Gary initiated an agreement with P&G for client network advertising and fueled sales growth through a trade show program.
Newman then worked at EOX/OTC Global Holdings Group as a Principal. Y. Gary facilitated the build-out of an electronic OTC energy derivatives exchange and was promoted to oversee the business unit. Y. Gary was responsible for trade processing, risk management, compliance, and reporting.
In 2013, Newman had two roles. Y. Gary was a Leader at LRN, where they provided strategic leadership in technology and operations for projects in multiple countries. Y. Gary also became the CEO of TelAPI, a technology platform venture. Y. Gary initiated Series A funding and received acquisition offers but the deals did not go through.
Newman founded Pledgewell in 2014, a chatbot donor platform. Y. Gary designed, coded, and launched the SMS-based platform, serving clients like United Way and US Soccer.
From 2015 to 2018, Newman worked at Zeno Media as the Chief Strategy Officer. Y. Gary led product ideation and roadmap, negotiated ad tech partnerships, managed corporate marketing, and negotiated exclusive content licensing deals.
Most recently, in 2018, Newman became the Chief Technology Officer at Waking Up.
Y. Gary Newman attended Touro University from 1987 to 1991 and earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Finance, General. Later on, they pursued their higher education at Columbia Business School from 2005 to 2006 and obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree.
