Bret Nicks, MD, MHA, FACEP, is the Director of the Masters of Healthcare Leadership at Wake Forest School of Medicine since July 2018 and has served as a Professor of Emergency Medicine at Wake Forest Baptist Health since July 2004. Nicks held various leadership roles at Wake Forest Baptist Health, including Chief Medical Officer for Davie Medical Center and Lexington Medical Center, focusing on quality, safety, and patient experience. As a former Associate Dean of Global Health at Wake Forest School of Medicine, Nicks developed global health system strategies and integrated global health into the medical curriculum. A graduate of the University of Washington with an MD and the University of North Carolina with an MHA, Nicks also has experience as a medical director for emergency services at Moses Cone Health System and served as a Peace Corps volunteer in science education.
