Vinay Bavdekar, Ph.D., serves as an Engineering Technical Leader at Wabtec Corporation since February 2019, focusing on traction and auxiliary power design and reliability for new product introduction. Prior experience includes a lead engineer role at GE Transportation, where Vinay developed an Auto Cooling Health Test for Tier-4 locomotives, and postdoctoral positions at UC Berkeley and the University of Alberta, where advanced control approaches and multivariate data analysis were applied to optimize system performance and predict output quality. A researcher at the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, Vinay made significant contributions to the extended Kalman filter algorithm, reducing prediction errors. Educational qualifications include a Ph.D. in Control Systems Engineering and an M.Tech. in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, complemented by a Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical Engineering from Savitribai Phule Pune University.
