Matthew James began their work experience in 1998 as an Assistant to the Development Director at the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Matthew then transitioned to the role of Associate at Jones Day in 2004, before joining DLA Piper as an Associate in 2006. In 2007, they joined McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP as an Associate and remained with the company until 2014. During that year, they became Vice President, Real Estate Attorney, and Real Estate Finance at Voya Investment Management.
Matthew James completed their education with a Doctor of Law (JD) degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2004. Prior to that, they attended the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, majoring in BM with a focus on music. Additionally, they pursued further studies at the Eastman School of Music and the University of Southern California, where they obtained a Masters of Music (MM) and a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) degree, respectively.
