Lead Quant Developer at Volue

Sebastian Greiner, PhD, has a diverse work experience in various fields. Sebastian began their career as an Intern at MBDA in 2012. Sebastian then pursued their academic interests, working as a PhD Researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Physics from 2015 to 2017. Concurrently, they also worked as a Ph.D. Student at Utrecht University from 2015 to 2018, where they focused on Theoretical High Energy Physics and obtained their Ph.D. degree. From 2018 to 2021, Sebastian worked as a Senior Quantitative Researcher at Flow Traders, specializing in high throughput/low latency Java for trading and machine learning. Sebastian designed and built a platform for supervised and reinforcement learning. Following this, they joined Booking.com in 2022 as a Machine Learning Engineer, optimizing bidding on online search platforms and enhancing performance marketing. Currently, Sebastian holds the position of Lead Quant Developer at Volue, where they are engaged in algorithmic execution in Limit Orderbooks and simulation of energy markets.

Sebastian Greiner, PhD, holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Theoretical and Mathematical Physics from Utrecht University, which they obtained from 2015 to 2018. Prior to this, they completed a Master of Science (MS) degree in Theoretical and Mathematical Physics from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München between 2013 and 2015. Sebastian also holds an Elite Bachelor's degree in TopMath from the Technical University of Munich, achieved from 2012 to 2013, and a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Mathematics from the University of Augsburg, which they obtained from 2010 to 2013. In terms of additional certifications, Sebastian has obtained various qualifications in programming, including Parallel, Concurrent, and Distributed Programming in Java, Advanced Data Structures in Java, Data Structures and Performance, and Object-Oriented Programming in Java from Coursera, all in 2021. Sebastian has also attained certifications in Problem Solving (Intermediate) and Python (Intermediate) from HackerRank in 2020.
