Talmage Thornhill has held various positions in the past, starting with a Youth Counselor at Unidad of Miami Beach in 2006. Talmage then worked as a Program Coordinator for the City of Miami Beach in 2008, and also held a Marketing Director role for Life is Art Fest in their spare time. In 2016, they became a Contract Manager for The Children's Trust of Miami-Dade County, and then moved on to the City of Miami Beach again in 2017 as a Grants Writer/Researcher. Most recently, Talmage Thornhill has been the Director of Corporate, Foundation & Government Relations at Vizcaya Museum and Gardens since 2019.

Talmage Thornhill earned a Master's Degree in Public Administration from Florida International University between 2016 and 2017. Prior to that, they obtained a BFA in Dance and Business from Florida State University between 1998 and 2002.
