Zhen Gao is the founder and CEO of Visionary Semiconductor Inc., a company they established in June 2017. Prior to this, Zhen worked as a PHD candidate at the University of Waterloo from September 2010 to June 2017. Between July 2015 and December 2016, Zhen served as a Technical Consultant at Ubiquity Solar. They also worked as an Electrical and Micro-Fabrication Engineer at Medella Health from May 2014 to July 2015. Additionally, Zhen has experience as a Research Assistant at the University of New South Wales from November 2009 to June 2010 and as an Intern at the State Key Thin Film Laboratory in Nankai University from November 2008 to February 2009.

Zhen Gao's education history begins in 2005 when they enrolled at Nankai University. They completed a Bachelor's degree in Communication Engineering in 2008. Following this, in 2008, they pursued further education at UNSW and obtained a Bachelor's degree in Photovoltaics and Renewable Energy Engineering in 2010. Finally, Zhen Gao attended the University of Waterloo from 2010 to 2017, where they earned a Ph.D. degree in Advanced Photovoltaics.
