Amalio Telenti, M.D, Ph.D., serves as Executive Vice President and Chief Data Officer at Vir, where he is responsible for leading data operations, data sciences and computational biology efforts. He joined the company in April 2019 as the Senior Vice President and Chief Data Scientist.
Prior to joining Vir, Dr. Telenti served as Chief Scientific Officer at Human Longevity, Inc., Chief Data Scientist at the Scripps Research Translational Institute and professor of genomics at Scripps Research. At Human Longevity, Dr. Telenti and his colleagues advanced the company’s genomic science and research to address the needs of personalized medicine. Prior to 2014, he served as a professor of medical virology at the University of Lausanne, Switzerland.
Dr. Telenti has been recognized for his many contributions to the field of host-pathogen genomics and is an elected member of the Swiss Academy of Medical Sciences. He received his medical degree from the University of Oviedo, and his Ph.D. in microbial genetics from the University of Saragossa, both in Spain. He completed his internal medicine residency and fellowship in infectious diseases at the Mayo Clinic.
