Raimundas Balčiūnaitis is a Chancellor of Vilnius University (since 16 September 2021). He assists the Rector in managing the University's economy and property, managing finances, ensuring the internal order of the University and the necessary material and organizational conditions for the activities of the Senate and Council, as well as signing court proceedings, has the right to conclude, supplement, amend, terminate contracts (excluding residents' managers), to approve the European Union structural assistance reports (after the completion of projects), is responsible for the efficiency, quality and results of the activities of the Central Administration and main non-academic departments of Vilnius University, attraction and implementation of investment and activity projects, management of information technology services, public procurement, etc.

From 2014 to 2021 R. Balčiūnaitis was a member of the Council of VIlnius University. He was also a member of the Council of the Centre for Quality Assessment in Higher Education, a member of the Council of the Research and Higher Education Monitoring and Analysis Centre (MOSTA), and a member of the Board of the Lithuanian Social Business Association. In addition, he is a Vilnius University alumni and a member of the VU Students' Union Alumni Association. The Chancellor worked at the Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists, the Lithuanian Innovation Center, the Sunrise Valley Science and Technology Park, several information technology companies, and engaged in consulting activities.

The Chancellor of Vilnius University is appointed by the Rector. The term of office is linked to the term of the Rector's office.
