John Thornhill serves as the Global Medical Director at ViiV Healthcare since October 2023 and holds an honorary consultant physician position at Barts Health NHS Trust since September 2018. John has extensive experience in clinical academia, including a role as Clinical Senior Lecturer at Queen Mary University of London from January 2022 to September 2023, focusing on HIV persistence and cure intervention studies. Previous positions include Senior Clinical Research Fellow at Imperial College London and Clinical Research Fellow roles at both Imperial College London and the Medical Research Council. John completed a Doctor of Philosophy in Medicine at Imperial College London and holds a Diploma in Tropical Medicine & Hygiene from Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia, along with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery from University College Dublin.
