Alper Kucukural, PhD has extensive experience in bioinformatics. Alper currently serves as the Chief Technology Officer for Via Scientific, Inc. Prior to this, they served as an Associate Professor, Co-director of Bioinformatics Core, and Associate Professor at Program in Molecular Medicine at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Alper also worked there as a Bioinformatician III, responsible for designing and implementing bioinformatics analysis pipelines. Previously, they held positions as a Postdoctoral Fellow in Computational Drug Design at the University of Kansas, and as a PhD student in Biological Sciences and Bioengineering at Sabanci University. Alper also served as a Research Fellow at Bologna University and CINECA, where they worked on finding similar parts of proteins for function annotation using parallel sub-graph matching algorithms.
Alper Kucukural, PhD, earned a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics Engineering and a Master's degree in Systems Analysis from Istanbul Technical University. Alper then pursued a PhD in Biological Sciences and Bioengineering from Sabanci University. Prior to this, Kucukural earned a high school degree in Computer Programming.
