João Valente has a diverse work experience in the field of research and engineering. João currently works as a Process Engineer at Vector Photonics since 2022. Previously, they were a Research Assistant at the University of Glasgow from 2018 to 2022 and at UCL from 2016 to 2018. Prior to that, they worked as a Research Assistant at the Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa, where they focused on the fabrication and characterization of DSSCs. Before that, they worked at CICECO - Aveiro Institute of Materials, where they were involved in the preparation of perovskite thin films. João also conducted studies on transparent and conductive oxide thin films at Instituto Superior Técnico.
João Valente has an extensive education history. João began by earning a Bachelor's degree in Material Science and Engineering from Universidade Nova de Lisboa, which they pursued from the year 2000 to 2007. Subsequently, they completed a Mestrado program in European Master in Material Science from Universidade de Aveiro, which took place in the academic year 2009-2010. Furthering their academic achievements, João Valente enrolled at the University of Southampton, where they pursued a Philosophy Doctorate (PhD) in the field of Plasmonics, Nanoplasmonics, and Reconfigurable Metamaterials. This doctoral program spanned from 2012 to 2016. Additionally, João obtained a Masters Degree from Universidade de Aveiro in February of 2010.
