Måns Hultman

Advisor at Vector Center

Vector Center has expanded its advisory board, adding Måns Hultman, a Swedish serial entrepreneur at the forefront of Europe’s data revolution.

Hultman led the business intelligence firm Qlik from its early startup days in 2002 to 2009, setting the stage for its $2 billion IPO in 2010. He met J. Carl Ganter, founder and CEO of Vector Center, at a World Economic Forum (WEF) session in China a decade ago, when Qlik was named a WEF Tech Pioneer.

Today, the Swedish serial entrepreneur is a partner at Zobito and a special advisor at 83North. He served as a board director at iZettle, which was recently acquired by PayPal for $2.2 billion, and on the boards of StormGeo, the weather intelligence company, and Hybris, the commerce platform acquired by SAP for $1.5 billion in 2013. Hultman is an early investor in Vector Center.

“Vector Center is the best qualified vendor to help organizations navigate and prepare for the water and climate risks ahead, with a compelling business model and offer in the growing ecosystem of impact investment, partnerships and solutions,” said Hultman. “I’m happy to share my experience with the Vector Center team to help them deliver on their important mission.”

From satellite to the ground, Vector Center’s data-driven situational awareness capabilities are powered by AI-based cognitive analysis and its proprietary Perception Reality Engine™ to deliver focused intelligence, scenarios, contexts, and response strategies about the world’s water, food, and energy supplies in a disruptive era.

Vector Center evolved from the award-winning, nonprofit Circle of Blue, which delivers trusted journalism on the global water crisis to policy makers and the general public.

“Business executives and government leaders came to us with a challenge,” said Ganter, who also co-founded Circle of Blue. “They wanted to understand the real-world consequences of these complex, fast-moving issues surrounding changing water resources to help guide the decisions and actions of their individual organizations. Thus, Vector Center was born.”

Ganter is a recipient of the Rockefeller Foundation Centennial Innovation Award, served as vice-chairman of the World Economic Forum Global Agenda Council on Water Security, and directed Watershed at the Vatican. Ganter most recently spoke at Techonomy 18 on the opportunity and urgency to “design water’s future.”

“As one of the founders of the business and data intelligence industry, we’re excited that Måns shares our vision to apply new technology and innovation to solve the world’s greatest resource challenges,” Ganter said.

Vector Center helps organizations understand the risks and impact of shifting water resources in a changing climate to guide decisions on such issues as capital investment, governance and compliance, global supply chains, sustainability and brand protection. The company delivers assessments and ongoing intelligence on water security using a combination of contextual reporting and advanced analytics.
