Govind S. Govindarajan

Principal Mechanical Engineer at Varex Imaging

Govind S. Govindarajan, PhD has extensive work experience in the field of mechanical engineering, particularly in the medical imaging industry. Govind started their career at Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, where they completed their undergraduate thesis on developing an Artificial Intelligence engine and system for complex mechanical design. Govind then joined Rutgers University as a Graduate Assistant and Ph.D. candidate, where they focused on evaluating the mechanical properties of high-temperature woven-fiber polymer composites and designing a high-temperature materials testing facility.

After completing their Ph.D., Govindarajan worked at Technisource as a Software Engineer, where they were involved in UI design and field service system configuration tools. Govind then joined GE Healthcare, where they held various roles over a span of 16 years. Govind started as a Mechanical Engineer, responsible for rotor-dynamics, noise & vibration specs, and measurement processes for vascular and CT tubes. Govind later became a Senior Mechanical Engineer and developed engineering tools and practices for predictive design processes. Govind also served as a Sr. Mechanical Engineer & Systems Analyst, analyzing structural, parametric, CFD, and non-linear material analyses across multiple divisions.

During their time at GE Healthcare, Govindarajan also held positions as a Sr. Mechanical Analyst, Lead Mechanical Engineer, and Principal Mechanical Engineer. In these roles, they were responsible for developing and analyzing thermal control concepts, guiding product teams in mechanical design, identifying and addressing failure rates, and developing mechanical specifications for X-Ray systems.

In 2014, Govindarajan joined Varex Imaging Corporation as a Principal Mechanical Engineer, where they currently work. The specific details of their role at this company are not provided.

Govind S. Govindarajan, PhD began their education at Modern Senior Secondary School in Madras (Chennai), where they completed their secondary education between 1973 and 1985. After completing their secondary education, they attended the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, where they received a B.Tech degree in Mechanical Engineering from 1986 to 1990. Continuing their education, Govindarajan attended Rutgers University, where they earned their Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from 1991 to 1996.

In addition to their formal education, Govindarajan has also obtained several certifications. In 2000, they obtained a Six Sigma Greenbelt certification from GE Healthcare. Later, in 2007, they completed the Applied Acoustics & Noise Control Course at AVNC. In 2010, Govindarajan earned ANSYS DesignModeler & Mechanical certification from ANSYS Inc., as well as VA One SEA certification from ESI Group.

Overall, Govind S. Govindarajan, PhD has a strong educational background in Mechanical Engineering, with degrees from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, and Rutgers University. Additionally, they have obtained certifications in various fields related to their expertise.
