John Town has a diverse work experience spanning over several decades. John started their career at BICC, PLC in 1983 as part of the GroupCo Graduate Management Program, where they worked until 1987. From there, they joined Vantiva Supply Chain Solutions and Technicolor Home Entertainment Services as the SVP of Technology, Quality and Senior Vice-president of Research & Development, respectively. John has also served as a Board Member for the Blu-ray Disc Association and the DVD Format & Logo Licensing Corp.

John Town attended RGS Worcester from 1973 to 1980. John then pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Leeds from 1980 to 1983. Following this, they attended the University of Liverpool from 1984 to 1985, where they completed their Master of Engineering degree in Microelectronic Systems.
