Research Associate III at Vanqua Bio

Cynthia Martinez has four years of work experience. In 2022, they began working as a Research Associate II at Vanqua Bio. In 2021, they began working as a Clinical Laboratory Technician II at Neelyx Labs, Inc. In this role, they collaborated with various testing sites to test patients in state using both a saliva-based (SalivaDirect) and swab-based (OpenSwab) PCR assay to detect SARS-CoV-2. Cynthia also assisted senior scientists in the startup and establishment of new laboratory by running validation assays for new protocols and instruments. From 2017 to 2021, they worked as a Laboratory Aide at the University of Illinois Chicago Genome Research Core, where they assisted with routine lab duties such as maintenance and autoclaving, and learned molecular biology techniques such as basic pipetting, Gel Electrophoresis, DNA quantification, DNA quality testing, etc. From 2018 to 2021, they worked as an Undergraduate Research Fellow at the Pajcini Lab in the Department of Pharmacology, where they investigated the role of the Rab family of small GTPases in the Notch Signaling Pathway, specifically in relation to T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

Cynthia Martinez received their Bachelor's degree in Biology/Biological Sciences, General from the University of Illinois Chicago in 2021, having started their studies in 2016.
