Gilman Whiting, Ph.D., has served as a Professor at Vanderbilt University since June 2004, contributing to the field of education through extensive experience in academic and consulting roles. As CEO of Whiting Urban Education Consulting & Assessment since 1996, Gilman focuses on improving teacher-student interactions, student retention, and graduation rates while developing institutional diversity and equity plans. Additionally, Gilman has been recognized as a Grand Master of Kempo Karate, emphasizing character development and self-defense training. Previously, Gilman held positions as a Visiting Assistant Professor at Hamilton College and as faculty at Martin University and Indiana Women's Prison. With a Ph.D. in Special Education from Purdue University and a robust background in multicultural education, Gilman has also actively engaged in international education initiatives and research with marginalized schools.
