Kai Liu has extensive experience in pharmaceutical sciences and medicinal chemistry, currently serving as Director of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Vanda Pharmaceuticals since December 2018, following roles as Senior Manager and Senior Scientist in the same field. Prior to this, Kai Liu worked as a Research Scientist at Reyoung Corporation focused on drug development from January 2016 to December 2018. Earlier career stages included significant research contributions at Virginia Commonwealth University, exploring the synthesis and biological evaluation of organic compounds related to neurodegenerative diseases and cancer, spanning roles from Research Scientist to Research Associate. A postdoctoral fellowship was completed at the Institute of Materia Medica in 2009. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Organic and Medicinal Chemistry from Peking Union Medical College & Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, accompanied by an M.S. and B.S. in related fields from Shenyang Pharmaceutical University.
