John Downey is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in the energy sector, currently serving as Chair at New Life Nyambene Trust and Technical Consultant at VAALCO Energy, Inc. Since February 2021, John has been a Consultant at TINDLE & MACLEOD ASSOCIATES LIMITED, and has held the role of Trustee for Governance & Fundraising at New Life Nyambene since December 2020. Previously, John was Chief Technical Officer and Exploration Director at Eland Oil and Gas from January 2015 to May 2020, and has also held several key positions at Dana Petroleum Plc and Enterprise Oil plc, including Exploration Manager and Senior Petroleum Economist. John began a career in geology at BP and GSL from 1980 to 1990. Academic qualifications include a Master of Science from the University of Leeds and a Bachelor of Science from Nottingham University.
