Emilie Verstraeten is an experienced professional in occupational safety and environmental coordination, currently serving as Preventieadviseur Arbeidsveiligheid at UZA since June 2019. Previous roles include Preventieadviseur Arbeidsveiligheid en Milieucoördinator at the Institute of Tropical Medicine in Antwerp from January 2016 to May 2019, and Preventieadviseur Arbeidsveiligheid for Stad Antwerpen from October 2012 to December 2015. Emilie has also contributed to research on preventing needlestick injuries at ZNA and developed innovative bioluminescent tags for trypanosomes during a master's thesis at the Institute of Tropical Medicine. Educational qualifications include a Postgraduate degree in Preventieadviseur Niveau 1 and an Environmental Coordinator degree from the University of Antwerp and Prevent, respectively, along with a master's degree in Biochemistry focused on medical bio-engineering from KU Leuven.
