Bruno Maertens serves as the Director of Nursing at UZA since October 2022, overseeing multiple departments including oncology, hematology, digestive pathology, medical imaging, and nuclear medicine. Prior to this role, Bruno held positions as Secretary of the ENM Network and contributed to the planning committee for management meetings, actively engaging in European nursing education initiatives from February 2018 to October 2022. With extensive experience in academic settings, Bruno functioned as a Lector at several institutions including AP Artesis Plantijn Hogeschool Antwerpen and UAntwerpen, leading programs in intensive and emergency care, as well as internationalization efforts in nursing. Bruno's educational background includes a master’s degree in nursing and obstetrics from the University of Antwerp and a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Katholieke Hogeschool Kortrijk, complemented by advanced training in emergency and intensive care. In addition to nursing practice, Bruno contributed to governance on the boards of De Kruin vzw and Zeppelin Vzw from September 2015 to June 2019.
