Elke Berneel is an experienced professional in biobanking and biomedical sciences, currently serving as the Biobank manager at UZ Gent since January 2023. Prior to this role, Elke held the position of Biobank manager at the Health, Innovation & Research Institute UZ Gent from February 2020 to January 2023 and worked as Kwaliteitsverantwoordelijke at the Bioresource center Ghent from January 2017 to February 2020. Elke's background includes experience as Assisterend Academisch Personeel at Universiteit Gent between June 2008 and June 2015, as well as roles as Laborant Pathologie at Sint-Jozefs kliniek and Laborant Microbiologie at Medisch Labo Medina. Elke obtained a Doctorate in Biomedical Sciences from Ghent University, complemented by a Master's degree in the same field. Currently, Elke is pursuing a Postgraduate Degree in Health Law and Health Ethics at the University of Antwerp.
