Sylvia Mitchell has extensive experience in the fields of biotechnology and education. Currently, Sylvia serves as the Director and Company Secretary of Navair Jamaica Limited since 1995, a company co-owned with Capt Alson Mitchell, which is seeking certification to offer PPL and CPL training. In addition, since 1999, Sylvia has held the position of Senior Lecturer at the University of the West Indies, leading the Medicinal Plant Research Group. Prior experience includes roles as a Scientific Officer at the Sugar Industry Research Institute from 1996 to 1999, managing the tissue culture laboratory, and as a Senior Research Scientist at the Scientific Research Council from 1986 to 1992, where Sylvia was a lead scientist in tissue culture. Sylvia's academic credentials include a PhD in Biotechnology and a B.Sc. in Geography and Botany from the University of the West Indies, with foundational education completed at St Hugh's High School.
