Carolina Odman is an accomplished academic and researcher with extensive experience in astrophysics and data-intensive astronomy. Currently serving as an Associate Professor at the University of the Western Cape and as Associate Director for Development & Outreach at the Inter-University Institute for Data Intensive Astronomy since June 2018, Carolina Odman previously held positions such as Associate Scientist at SKA South Africa and Chief Scientist at thumbzup, where responsibilities included big data analysis and 3rd party integrations. Carolina Odman's earlier roles include Director of Academic Development for the AIMS - Next Einstein Initiative, SKA Research Fellow at the South African Astronomical Observatory, and International Project Manager at Leiden University, leading initiatives to inspire children in scientific fields. With a Ph.D. in Astrophysics from the University of Cambridge and a Master’s in Physics Engineering from EPFL, Carolina Odman has a strong foundation in theoretical cosmology, bayesian statistics, and academic development.
