Jonathan M. Burg, PhD, currently serves as a Lieutenant in the Commissioned Corps of the U.S. Public Health Service, specializing as a Senior Assistant Scientist and Safety Officer since June 2022. Concurrently, Jonathan has held various roles at EpiCypher, Inc. since October 2017, advancing from Research Scientist I to Associate Director of Research Strategy, contributing to the execution of research and commercial priorities aligned with the company's strategic vision. Academic experience includes a postdoctoral associate position at Duke University, where Jonathan conducted research on novel strains of S. cerevisiae under a DARPA contract, and a graduate research assistant role focusing on histone demethylase interactions. Initial research experience involved inorganic-organic hybrid material synthesis at Rutgers University and an internship at Schering-Plough Research Institute utilizing siRNA technology. Educational credentials include a PhD in Chemistry from Duke University, a Bachelor’s Degree in Biochemistry from Rutgers University, and ongoing work towards a Master of Science in Environmental Health at East Carolina University.
