Taylor Thornton

Principal Software Engineer at Upbound

Taylor Thornton has a strong work experience in the software engineering field. Starting in 2011, Taylor worked as a Support Engineer at Jive Software before moving on to become an Associate Software Engineer and later a Software Engineer. In these roles, Taylor focused on optimizing performance and scalability of the Jive core app for large customers.

In 2015, Taylor took on the role of Senior Software Engineer at Jive Software and worked on projects involving the splitting of the Jive core app into microservices, utilizing React, Nodejs, and Docker. Taylor also served as a Technical and Team Lead, overseeing critical services in Jive's new architectural initiatives, utilizing Elixir and Erlang.

In 2017, Taylor joined Puppet as a Principal Software Engineer and became the Tech Lead for infrastructure and services used by Puppet Discovery. This included managing CI/CD pipelines, CLI wrappers, and secrets management.

Taylor then transitioned to Cambia Health Solutions in 2018, initially as a Software Development Engineer IV and later as a Principal Software Engineer. In these roles, Taylor served as a Tech Lead for shared services teams working on building the Janus Platform on AWS. Taylor led projects such as implementing an ABAC system with centralized policy management and distributed policy enforcement.

Most recently, in 2021, Taylor joined Upbound as a Staff Software Engineer and quickly progressed to become a Principal Software Engineer. Currently, Taylor holds the position of Principal Software Engineer and continues to contribute to the development of Upbound's software.
