Meg Massey

Director of Strategic Outreach at Upaya Social Ventures

Meg Massey is the Director of Strategic Outreach for Upaya Social Ventures. She brings more than a decade of experience in the impact investing world, most recently as a strategic communications consultant for a number of social sector leaders. Previously, Meg was Director of Communications for the Global Steering Group for Impact Investment (GSG) — where her work planning the group’s 2018 summit in New Delhi served as her introduction to India’s impact investing ecosystem — and held senior stakeholder engagement positions with the Urban Institute, Monitor Deloitte, and the Obama White House’s public-private partnerships team.

Meg is the author of the 2021 book Letting Go: How Philanthropists and Impact Investors Can Do More Good By Giving Up Control, which she co-wrote with Village Capital’s Ben Wrobel. A journalist by training, her writing about social justice issues in impact investing has appeared in multiple national and international publications. She is a founding member of the global Participatory Grantmaking Community, an operating partner for the US-based gender lens tech investor Chloe Capital, and a member of the gender lens funding collective Coralus (formerly SheEO).

Meg earned her BA magna cum laude from Mount Holyoke College and her MA from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., where she is based.
