Gary Urb, PhD, is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in research and development within the fields of chemistry and environmental technology. As CEO and Co-Founder of UP Catalyst since October 2019, Gary Urb focuses on producing sustainable carbon nanomaterials and graphite for green energy storage by converting CO2 emissions from heavy industry. Prior to this role, Gary Urb served as CTO at Wolf Group OÜ, overseeing product development teams and project management. Gary Urb’s earlier experience includes significant roles at AkzoNobel Decorative Coatings, where responsibilities encompassed product development and quality control for woodcare products across EMEA, and research positions at various institutions, including NICPB and HelmholtzZentrum München. Gary Urb holds a PhD in Colloid and Environmental Chemistry from the University of Tartu and has furthered education at prestigious institutions such as the University of North Carolina and Norwegian University of Science and Technology.
