Hala Jassim AlMossawi has extensive experience in the field of public health, particularly in the areas of tuberculosis (TB), HIV, and emerging infectious diseases (EIDs). Hala currently serves as the Vice President and Director of TB, HIV, and EIDs Programs at the Center for Innovations and Technology (CIT) with URC. In this role, they provide leadership and direction to these programs.
Prior to their current position, Hala held various roles within URC and its subsidiary, the Center for Human Services (CHS). Hala served as the Senior Director of Technical Support, where they provided technical leadership for bilateral and core supported activities managed by CIT/URC-CHS. Hala also played a key role in designing and developing health strategies, training programs, tools, and interventions across field teams and the organization. Hala provided leadership in several cross-cutting areas such as human-centered design, global health security, behavior change communication, maternal and child health, infectious diseases, program evaluations, health system strengthening, and quality improvement.
Additionally, Hala held the positions of Director of Technical Support, Associate Director, Senior Associate, and Senior Program Officer at URC-CHS. In these roles, they provided technical leadership and support to various field implementation teams, including those in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Swaziland. Hala also contributed to the development of baseline assessments, gap analyses, national guidelines, standard operating procedures, and training plans in several countries.
Hala has also worked with USAID, serving as a Senior TB/HIV Advisor. Hala provided expert advice and support in the area of TB and HIV programming.
Furthermore, Hala served as the Chief of Party (COP) for the USAID/Primary Health Care Project in Iraq. In this role, they provided comprehensive support to USAID and the Government of Iraq in the development of public sector primary health care. Hala oversaw program design and implementation, as well as the recruitment and professional development of project staff.
