Ashley Townsend has extensive experience in research and governance, currently serving as Co-Director of the Central Science Laboratory at the University of Tasmania since 1995, alongside roles in the Audit and Risk Committee and as a Council Member. Townsend has also held positions as Principal Research Fellow, Senior Research Fellow, and Research Fellow within the same institution. From 1999 to 2003, Townsend contributed as an Executive/Board Member of The Royal Australian Chemical Institute. Academic qualifications include a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Chemistry and a Bachelor's degree with Honours in Chemistry from the University of Tasmania, as well as courses from the Australian Institute of Company Directors focusing on governance and directorship.
