Elisabeth Lund Engebretsen is a prominent academic with extensive experience in gender research and anthropology. Currently a Professor of Gender Research at the University of Stavanger since June 2018 and Co-Editor-in-Chief at lambda nordica since May 2020, Engebretsen also serves as an Affiliated Researcher at the Amsterdam Research Centre for Gender and Sexuality, University of Amsterdam. Previous roles include Senior Visiting Fellow at The London School of Economics and Political Science, Senior Lecturer at the University of Oslo, and Associate Professor of Anthropology at Shandong University. Engebretsen holds a PhD in Anthropology from The London School of Economics and Political Science, alongside a Master of Science in Gender Studies and a Bachelor's degree in Chinese and Anthropology from the University of Oslo. Additional educational experience includes a doctoral exchange program at Columbia University and advanced Chinese language studies at Xiamen University.
