Laura Kissel is an accomplished educator and media professional with a notable career at the University of South Carolina, where tenure includes roles as Director of the School of Visual Art and Design, Director of the Film and Media Studies Program, Professor, and Associate Professor since August 2006. Kissel specializes in documentary media production and teaches multiple media studies and production courses annually while engaging in community service. Previous experience includes a Fulbright Fellowship at Fudan University in Shanghai, China, where media production for the documentary Cotton Road was conducted, and an Assistant Professor position at the University of South Carolina from 1999 to 2005. Educational qualifications include an MFA in Radio-TV-Film from Northwestern University and a B.S. in Cinema and Photography from Ithaca College.
