Esther Roberts

Deputy Director, Business Development at University of South Australia

Esther Roberts has a diverse work experience spanning over 20 years. Their most recent role was as the Deputy Director, Business Development at the University of South Australia, a position they began in 2022. Prior to that, Esther worked at BAE Systems, Inc. from 2019 to 2022, where they held the position of Industry Capability Development Manager (Australian Industry Capability). In this role, they were responsible for coaching and mentoring Australian businesses, managing key relationships with various stakeholders, and developing business cases to improve Australian supply chain capability. Esther also played a vital role in increasing Indigenous procurement and supporting the creation of new Indigenous businesses.

Before joining BAE Systems, Esther worked at the Department of the Premier and Cabinet, Government of South Australia, holding several positions from 2005 to 2019. These positions included Trade and Investment Director - London Office of the Agent General (secondment), General Manager, International Trade, and Trade Development Manager, Middle East and Europe, among others.

Additionally, Esther began their career at the Office of Regional Affairs, Government of South Australia in 2002, where they held policy and program management roles until 2005.

Esther Roberts holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the University of South Australia. In 2013, they attended the European Summer School for Advanced Management at Aarhus University. Esther also has additional certifications in Trade and Negotiation Training from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and Winning Investment for Australia from Austrade, Inc.
